New Year, New Me?

No Thanks!

New Year, Same Amazing me!

So we have reached that time of year again… post Christmas no-mans land where we’re never quite sure what day it is, our bodies are still struggling to digest the copious amount of food and drink we have consumed over the festive period, even the programmes on the telly have turned to shit… And suddenly we’re surrounded by plenty of ‘shift the Christmas weight gain’ ads, and ‘new year new me’ posts, as if we weren’t feeling crappy enough.

I have always LOVED Christmas, but despised New Years. After doing some soul searching, I have come to realise that the reason I dislike New Years so much, isn’t the actual occasion as such. As I regularly follow the moon cycles for my own self development and setting intuitions etc, I warmly welcome the opportunity of a new beginning, some shadow & reflection work, after all we are continually evolving and growing as human beings.

What I hate, is the societal pressure to be a certain way, to do ‘better’. How on earth can you measure yourself against someone else’s standards? The phrase ‘new year new me’ on the surface level seems a fairly positive, thought provoking statement, when in fact, I find it incredibly insulting & degrading with an assumption that there is something wrong with the way you are now. I can, however, fully get behind reflecting on the previous year, seeing what you wish to take with you into the new year, any changes you wish to embrace, personal development or growth, new ideas and direction, personal achievements you wish to accomplish. You will still be the same old amazing YOU! By embracing ALL of you, you find your own sense of inner peace. We cannot simply ignore the parts of us that we don’t like, and sometimes these are not something that we can change. Believe me, we all have those parts we’d rather not have! And that is what makes us human.

So, this new year, I will be doing my own version of self-reflection work on how I would like next year to pan out for me. Of course, this may change and evolve as time goes on, but that’s the beauty, isn’t it??

For me, I will be using a combination of my own personal goals along with my trust oracle & tarot cards. This should be completely personal to you, but here’s some of the prompts I will be using for my own journaling and channelling, so please feel free to use as you wish.

Reflection on the past year

what were your proudest moments?

what were your biggest challenges? What lessons did you learn from this that you can carry forward?

How will you measure your successes this year? Keep a journal? Number of sales? Saving for a special occasion?

How did others make you feel last year? What can you put in place to protect your energy & set boundaries?

What will your give back be? If you can’t afford to donate to charity, offer some time to someone who needs it?

Personal Development – look at courses, events, networking, collaborations, how do you want to grow?
